Anti-reservation protest in Hyderabad tomorrow...
“ In aiims 104 hrs of hunger strike 94 students collapse.Media prohibited from covering.Please spread it like fire if u feel 4 worthy of the cause.”
This was the message I got yesterday.. I knew that the doctors were given termination notices..but preventing the media from covering the protest is….sick.
I am not against the entire reservation as such.. just don’t want them to be misused by the well off OBC’s and SC/ST’s and we cannot have around 50% of the seats reserved!I got to know the other day that the government doesn’t even have the data on the population of the OBC’s and how many people is it going to benefit through this increased reservation, It just proves that it’s a political move on the part of the government.. how can they take such a step regarding a sensitive issue like reservation without any adequate data?
Protests are gaining momentum from across India.. and finally Hyderabad has woken up.. there is an anti-reservation protest tomorrow @Indira park ,10 am .So if you feel for the cause and want to extend your support..be there.
I don’t know if anything will be achieved by the protests.. the politicians may well have it their way.. But atleast I would definitely go there to express my support to the cause. I wish everyone who is against this new reservation policy participates too..
And before I end the post would like to add the sms I got yesterday:
“Once tortoise and rabbit wrote eamcet. And got the same rank but only tortoise got the seat.. do you know why?
Sports quota”

Just came across this blog while doing an anti quota search on google. I was there in the protests too at Indira Park. Can u pls post info on the future plans of any protests in Hyderabad as they just collected email ids and phone no.s there without giving any info on future protests. Pls post info on future protests if u receive any info . thanks

Starving yourself is not a legitimate means of protest. A protest (strike) is meant to be a channel by which a group can communicate their grievances.
The melodramatic tone that these strikes have induced - with both sides espousing moral outrage and personal anguish at the state of affairs is counterproductive and will in the end be futile.
Its just like that politician who set himself on fire to protest some B.S. He ended up getting killed (yes I think thats a tragedy too).
If we are ever going to have viable and consistent social reform we need to stop behaving like children whose toys have been taken away.
Protest away but dont endanger yourself or anyone else while doing it. Be erudite and firm but dont be idiots.
Btw I am completely against reservation. I believe human merit and will are the only things worth admiring in the world.
Freedom does not give you the right to kill yourself in public places.

This is Manoo Kapoor working with CSC(hyd).Today I had a meeting with some more people who think we should come forward to protest against reservations.Below is the minutes of meeting compiled by Brahmaiah Manam .

We at CSC, Hyderabad has formed a team to contribute in the noble cause of fighting against Reservations in Education and jobs.
In this regard we have formulated an agenda to support the
' Anti Reservation Human Chain programme ' scheduled to be held in the premises of Hitec-City on 26th May 2006, Friday at 6.30PM (18.30 hrs).
A snapshot of the major decisions taken in this meeting are :
1. Distribution of palmplates and Website --Why and How
2. Formation of Human chain
3. Media Coverage
We are running out of time so it needs a lot of support and voluntary participation from each and everyone of us who are against
the move of caste based society.
